Akram, Arafat may not feature in CL

JOHANNESBURG: Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram may not be allowed to work as a commentator during the Champions League in India and all-rounder Yasir Arafat’s inclusion for Sussex in the event also looks highly unlikely.

A well-placed source attached with the Board of Control for India (BCCI) confirmed to ‘The News’ that the company that had bought the TV rights of the League has been asked not to invite Akram as a commentator as his presence during the tournament starting in India next week would be risky.

“The telecasters have been asked not to invite Wasim as he would not be welcomed in India. His presence during the Champions League would be a risky affair,” said the source.

To a question about Yasir’s presence for England champions Sussex, he said that BCCI was well aware of the fact and has taken up the matter with the English county.
