Knight Riders buy out Ponting's contract

New Delhi: Australian captain Ricky Ponting has confirmed that he will not be part of the IPL. Ponting's contract has been bought out by Kolkata Knight Riders, which means they are now free to replace him with another player.

Ponting was in not going to be available for the first three weeks of the tournament as Australia are involved in a Test series at the time against New Zealand.

Mohammad Kaif's contract has also been bought out by Rajasthan Royals and he has been added to the auction pool.
