LAHORE: Pakistan’s chief cricket selector Iqbal Qasim will hold counselling sessions with national players struggling with their form, to help them get back on track.‘I will hold individual counselling sessions with the players and will try to lift them out of their current slump,’ he told APP here on Friday.
Qasim said there are few players in the Pakistan team announced for the Champions Trophy who are finding it hard to regain lost touch.
‘These sessions will be aimed at lifting their morale and spirit.’
The chief selector added that although the senior players are vastly experienced, they need help and guidance to concentrate on the grey areas to lift the level of their game.
‘Every player goes through a bad path but it can be overcome if the player takes remedial measures,’ he said.
Qasim said it is not wise to conclude that the career of any particular player has passed its prime if he does not perform in a series or a tournament.
‘There are ways to boost a player’s morale up and spirit and I want to see all the senior players performing consistently to contribute towards team’s success,’ he asserted.
Iqbal Qasim said Pakistan team needs motivation and players have all the potential to capture every title of the world, the way it did in Twenty20 world cup.
‘As chief selector it is my responsibility to look into attitude and performance of the players and I will do my best to get best out of every player,’ he said.
